One word for 2014

Instead of setting a specific list of goals for 2014, like I did last year, I decided that this year it's all about a one word focus. Now. . .  don't get me wrong. There are lots of things I would love to accomplish and chart out and write down and put on my calendar and work towards. But I also know myself and where our family is at right now. We are about to have a newborn. And we have a daughter with some special needs with a pretty busy schedule. And thus, adding a list of goals to accomplish, while good in intention, will most likely leave me beyond stressed. And the last thing I need is to voluntarily stress out my Type A self. Or voluntarily stress out my non Type A husband.

You following me?

So in the spirit of this New Year I decided to just slow down and choose a one theme word so to speak.

Intentional.

To me, being intentional can encompass so many things.

I want to be intentional with my time.

I want to be intentional with/in my relationships.

I want to be intentional with my kids.

I want to be intentional with my health.

I want to be intentional in my marriage.

I want to be intentional in my speech.

I want to be intentional in the way I serve.

I want to be intentional in the way I spend money.

I want to be intentional in my daily seeking of the Lord

I think you get the idea. . .

So as we kick off January, and continue on month after month, I hope to really take time to focus and be aware of the intention behind all of my actions. I don't want to float through 2014 without a care or thought. Will this year be harder than the last? Maybe. Probably. But I still have the power of intent on my side.

I want to live well, and live on purpose.

What about you? I know I am a little late in the game, but do you have any goals or theme words you are focusing on this year?
